What are Orthotics?

Orthotics are medical devices inserted into the shoe that are used tom reduced or alter forces acting on the tissues of the foot.

Can Orthotics help me?

Orthotics can be made for a variety of  conditions including:

  • Foot Pain
  • Arch Pain (Plantar Fasciitis)
  • Fallen Arches
  • Heel Pain
  • Knee Pain
  • Hip Pain
  • Back Pain

Following a thorough biomechanical assessment I can advise on whether orthotics will be beneficial in your treatment process.Orthotics can either be pre-fabricated or custom made and I will advise what will be best for you depending on severity and medical need.

What Orthotic will I need?

In clinic I can prescribe either pre-fabricated orthotics or custom made devices. Pre-fabricated orthoitcs are pre-made and are dispensed from the packet and therefore a standard size. There are many different devices devices and brands to choose from so an orthotic to suit your needs can usually be found. These devices are more cost but don't tend to last as long.

A casted or bespoke device is made from a cast of your feet, therefore the orthotic is made specifically for your needs. A wide range of materials can be used from plastics, to EVA, to rigid carbon fibre orthotics. Your requirements will be discussed at your appointment to ensure a unique prescription is devised.

How much do orthotics cost?

Here at Complete Podiatry I like to keep pricing simple with an open pricing structure so you are aware of the cost from the start. There are 3 treatment options:

  1. Pre-fabricated Orthotic- £35 - £60
  2. Semi Custom Orthotic- £100
  3. Bespoke Orthotics- £200
