Curacorn

Curacorn® is a unique and innovative treatment using specialised gel injections to cushion inside the skin to prevent painful pressure lesions such as corns and calluses, making it the perfect treatment for busy patients who find themselves having to return for regular/frequent treatments.

About curacorn

How it started

Curacorn® was initially developed to help footballers suffering with painful pressure lesions.  It uses hyaluronic acid (HA), a substance naturally found in the body and is biocompatible with few side effects and contraindications. This particular HA is stronger and more robust then HA filler commonly used in facial aesthetics and can withstand body weight. The HA is injected between the joint and the skin to provide continuing support and cushioning.

How does it help?

Corns and callus are formed when there is friction or pressure between the skin and bone. Curacorn® works by precisely injecting Hyaluronic Acid between the bone and the outer skin, producing a “pillow effect” between the two. This stops the body’s protective mechanism of forming callus and corns to the affected area - leading to instant pain relief.

Who can it help?

 People with:

  • Corns between the toes or on the top of hammer toes
  • Corns or pressure points on the sole of the foot
  • Loss of protective fatty padding to the foot, common in the elderly
  • High risk health conditions such as Diabetes and Rheumatoid Arthritis.
  • Corns due to high impact sports such as running, football, golf, rugby, cricket, athletics, and any sports involving excessive weight bearing

Who cannot have Curacorn treatment:

  • If you are pregnant, breast feeding or planning a pregnancy.
  • Previously hypersensitivity or had adverse reactions to Local anaesthetic or any ingredients in the products used.
  • Have been treated with local cortisone injections within the last six weeks.
  • Have local tumors or local bacterial and/or viral infections.
  • Under 18 years old

what to expect from curacorn

Stage 1

The first assessment determines you are suitable for treatment. This includes taking medical history, medications, vascular and neurological assessment as well as a look at the structure/biomechanics of the foot.

Any callus will be removed, corn(s) will be enucleated (removed) with a sterile scalpel and you will be asked to return in 1 week.

Stage 2

A Local anaesthetic (LA) will be injected to numb the area(s) to be treated and the first layer of HA will be placed behind the area where the corn or problem area was located.

Padding will be applied to the foot to allow the filler to settle.

  • Please note you will not be insured to drive after this appointment for 12 hours due to the LA.

You will be asked to return in 4 weeks.

Stage 3

Like stage 2, a Local anaesthetic (LA) will be injected to numb the area(s) to be treated and a second layer of HA will be placed behind the area where the corn or problem area was located.

We find a layering method promotes longevity of the treatment.

Padding will be applied to the foot to allow the filler to settle.

  • Please note you will not be insured to drive after this appointment for 12 hours due to the LA.

Stage 4

Most patients find they have a significant reduction in pain or pain-free after the second layer of HA is placed, however, IF a third layer if required there is a 3-month period for you to return for a top-up.

 £299 - 1 x digital corn

£499 - 1 x plantar corn

Curacorn® protocol usually involves 1-3 treatments, depending on the severity of the lesion. Many patients report feeling instant relief after their first treatment, however the layering method has a cumulative effect, so you should expect to see improvements with each treatment.
