Gait Analysis (Run3D)

What is Run3D?

Run3D is the gold standard of gait and musculoskeletal analysis, providing all the information you need to understand the root cause of your injury, which is the first step to putting it right.

Developed by scientists at Oxford University, Run3D uses advanced 3D motion capture technology to accurately measure your movement patterns, gaining data driven insight into your biomechanics for individualised treatment plans and optimal recovery.

Who is suitable for Gait Analysis?

Who is suitable for Gait Analysis?

Who is suitable for Gait Analysis?

  • Anyone with difficulty walking
  • Activity related overuse injuries
  • Re-occuring and persistent injuries
  • New/ increased training
  • Post MSK surgery
  • Improve performance

Conditions we can help with...

Who is suitable for Gait Analysis?

Who is suitable for Gait Analysis?

  • Plantar Fasciitis
  • Achilles Tendinopathy
  • Metatarsalgia
  • Foot Pain
  • Calf Strain
  • Patella Femoral Pain
  • Knee and Hip  Pain
  • Lower Back Pain

What happens during a gait analysis?

1.History Take

2. Marker Placement

2. Marker Placement

We ask a series of questions about your concerns. These questions will guide us in which tests we need to perform in order to help resolve your issues.   We listen to your needs so we know your goals and help guide toward them.

2. Marker Placement

2. Marker Placement

2. Marker Placement

We attach 39 reflective markers to  your legs and shoes, positioned on specific anatomical landmarks.

Using exactly the same 3D motion capture technology as specialist orthopaedic hospitals and elite sports performance centres, our state-of-the-art cameras measure the position of these markers 200 times a second. We use this data to calculate precisely how your joints are moving as you walk and run.

3. Gait Analysis

2. Marker Placement

4. Pressure Plate Analysis

You will walk or run on the treadmill and we quantify exactly how you are moving in real-time.

We accurately measure the 3D movements at your pelvis, hips, knees and ankles, and compare your results to a database of uninjured controls in real-time. This enables us to immediately identify any asymmetry and abnormal patterns in your gait.

4. Pressure Plate Analysis

4. Pressure Plate Analysis

4. Pressure Plate Analysis

During assessment we use a force plate to analysis the pressures going through your feet when standing, balancing and walking.

5.MSK Assessment

4. Pressure Plate Analysis

6. Data Interpretation

Ir required we also carry out an MSK assessment in combination with the Gait Analysis to allow us to fully understand why you move in a certain way which gives us the first steps to putting it right. Aswell as your alignment we carry out a series of tests to check muscle strength, flexibility and neuromotor control

6. Data Interpretation

4. Pressure Plate Analysis

6. Data Interpretation

We will review your report, using the information to fully understand your biomechanical function.

This report enables us to understand the cause of your injury, which is the first step to an effective and long-term rehabilitation plan.

7. Treatment and Recovery

7. Treatment and Recovery

7. Treatment and Recovery

Once we have all your results we can then work together to formulate a specific treatment plan to help achieve your goals.

We pride ourselves in giving you the best rehab care you need to get you back on your feet.

We believe that in order to achieve the best outcomes for your injury/ complaint a more holistic approach is needed. From the results of your assessment  we look at a whole range of  treatment options, for example:

  • Stretching exercises
  • Strengthening exercises
  • Mobilisation and massage
  • Taping techniques
  • Laser therapy
  • Podoactiva Orthotic prescription
  • Referral to other Therapists

Helping to keep you on the move!

Run 3d is the most advanced form of gait analysis.

It's been brilliantly described as an MRI of your movement!!

The system is far more advanced than video-based analysis as it enables us to:

1. Accurately identify the root cause of a musculoskeletal overuse injury and recommend  the optimal treatment pathway

2. Recommend evidence based treatment protocols based on precise data

3. Prevent injuries before they occur by identifying and addressing biomechanical risk factors

Testimonials

"It's like an MRI of my movement!!"

"I came to see Louise due to ongoing hip pain when I started the couch to 5K. The results showed me exactly the areas I needed to work on, and I am now working towards my goals! Thank you Louise!"

" Absolutely brilliant bit of kit. I found out exactly what my orthotics were doing to my gait. Turns out I didn't need orthotics afterall, but just needed a rehab programme to help my movement"
